If you're still working towards a qualification, the Air Force can help you reach your goal with sponsored study schemes you won’t find anywhere else.
Regardless of whether you have previous qualifications or experience, you will need to complete the Initial Officer Course at Officers' Training School, at RAAF Base East Sale, in Gippsland, Victoria to become an Officer in the Air Force. This comprehensive course runs for 16 weeks (it also has a part-time option for Reservist Personnel) and covers everything from leadership and management, to ground defence and fitness training. ADFA is an excellent training option for entrants without an existing qualification. You'll earn a degree from the University of New South Wales in Arts, Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Science or Technology, while also receiving military and leadership training. You'll be paid a salary, enjoy full medical and dental cover and your tuition fees and other student expenses will also be paid for. In return, you’ll serve in the Air Force for an Initial Minimum Period of Service. This varies depending on what job you apply for. Learn more
If you've completed at least your first year of an undergraduate degree, we can pay you up to $41,602 per year while you complete your degree, before undertaking the Initial Officer Course at Officers' Training School. The Air Force will also cover your tuition fees and pay for your textbooks, subsidise your accommodation, and provide you with full medical and dental benefits. Learn more
If you've already completed a relevant undergraduate degree, the Air Force could sponsor you to undertake a four year post graduate Medical degree at an Australian University. You will be paid up to $61,959 per year and receive other benefits. The graduate medical program is followed by two years residency at a teaching hospital. Learn more
