All Air Force members need to pass an annual fitness test. After all, maintaining a high level of physical fitness is important in both operational and deployed environments. Not only do we encourage you to participate in sporting activities, we also incorporate a range of physical activities into your normal working day. There aren't many other jobs that pay you to keep fit!

Teams & Clubs

You'll never run out of activities to help you get and keep fit. Whatever your favourite sport or pastime, you're sure to find plenty of people with similar interests on base. There are number of sporting clubs you can join such as Aussie Rules, rugby, netball, hockey and basketball. You'll also find clubs for sailing, diving, fishing, water skiing and gliding. Plus, most bases have fully-equipped gyms, swimming pools and tennis, squash and basketball courts.

Social Life

Air Force bases are hubs of excitement and change, offering a huge range of social and sporting facilities to help you relax and enjoy your life outside of working hours.

Messes / Clubs

From formal functions to everyday get-togethers, our Messes / Clubs are the social heart of life on base. If you decide to live on base, it's where you'll spend a lot of time eating, drinking and simply hanging out. Dress codes apply but are fairly basic. A member's rank usually determines which Mess they can access, for example The Officers' Mess, the Sergeants' Mess or the Airmens' Mess.

Friends

From the moment you join the Air Force, you'll find you'll make lots of new friends. What's more, given that your working hours are similar to those anywhere else, you can still catch up with your friends outside the Air Force as well.
