Employment Training
Officer, Undergraduate, Australian Defence Force Academy, Graduate
Administration Officers will undertake an Administration Officer Initial Course (AOIC) of seven (7) weeks duration sometime between three and twelve months after graduation from ADFA or from the Initial Officer Course. The AOIC is a prerequisite for all ADMINOs to be considered competent for deployment on operations or exercises. This course is currently conducted at the School of Administration and Logistics Training (RAAFSALT) at RAAF Base Wagga Wagga, NSW.
After a period of 2-3 years "on the job", there may be a requirement to complete advanced administrative courses and/or management development courses. Your attendance at these courses will be programmed on an "as required" basis.
But the training does not stop there, as all ADMINOs will complete further job specific and career development training throughout their career. Courses may include personnel IT systems (PMKeyS - Personnel Management Key Solutions), accounting (ROMAN - Resource and Output Management and Accounting Network), procurement certification, communication skills, staff skills, Ministerial Writing, promotion prerequisite courses, media awareness, joint warfare, occupational health and safety, equity and equal employment opportunity, conciliation and mediation skills, investigation skills, mess financial accounting and management and other relevant job specific courses that will enhance your abilities to do your job more effectively.
Officer (Reserve)
Administration Officers are required to complete the Administration Officer Initial Course conducted by the School of Administration and Logistics Training (RAAFSALT) at RAAF Base Wagga Wagga, NSW. The course is modularised and is delivered in two separate attendance phases. However, Reservists can complete the first portion of the course off-campus by workbook. The attendance phases will normally be completed within 12-18 months of completing the workbook.
Personnel are required to live-in during the training period. Weekend leave is available during the course but no other leave is allowed except for compassionate reasons.
While under training, Reserve Squadron Training Flight staff will arrange for the Reservist Trainee to be provided with a mentor and an appropriate workplace environment for practical experience. Training staff will monitor the trainee's progress and provide the necessary assistance to ensure that the Reservist graduates.
