Further Training
Having completed basic recruit training and the Aircraft Life Support Fitter training, a period of 36 months is required for the consolidation of training and experience before trainees are eligible to progress to the next skill level. This period includes the intermediate step of reclassification from AC Fitter Grade 1 to LAC Fitter Grade 1 after 12 months. An additional 24 months experience at LAC Fitter Grade 1 and further specialist training is required prior to regrading to LAC Fitter Grade 2. The member may then, in competition, advance through the ranks to Warrant Officer.
The Aircraft Life Support Trade comprises two skill levels intended to provide a close match between training and employment and to facilitate a progressive approach to trade training.
