Other Ranks (Non Technical)
Once you have successfully completed the ADG Basic Course, you can expect a posting to 2 Airfield Defence Squadron (2AFDS) at RAAF Base Amberley, Ipswich, Queensland.
Daily Physical Training Routine
A typical day at 2AFDS starts at 7:15am and finishes at 4.15pm.
Followed by morning parade, all ADGs will take part in physical training. Some examples of physical training are: Mon to Fri - 2hrs of PT in the Morning. The physical training program is a progressive and educational based program for all ADGs. Lunch time activities are advocated when time permits. On some occasions, members are also taken on trips away from the unit where they may participate in beach runs and rock climbing. Bone of Contention activities (competition between individuals, rifle sections and rifle flights) are run once a month which encompasses varied physical activities. Operational Safety Training and Run, dodge, jump obstacle courses are operational specific activities and are constantly reinforced throughout the year in the physical training program.
Other Ranks (Non Technical) (Reserve)
On completion of recruit and basic Airfield Defence Guard training, Air Force Active Reserve ADGs will be posted to either No 1 Airfield Defence Squadron (RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia) or No 2 Airfield Defence Squadron (RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland) to continue operational readiness training for the remaining period of their 11 months full-time duty employment contract.
