Other Ranks (Non Technical)
You will be enlisted for an Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS) of four years. Subsequent periods of service may be offered subject to the requirements of the ADF and your suitability for further service.
You may request discharge at any time provided you do not have an outstanding Initial Minimum Period of Service obligation and provide a minimum of three months notice.
Other Ranks (Non Technical) (Reserve)
Airfield Defence Guard candidates who enlist into the Air Force Reserve have an initial full-time contract of 11 months, and are required to serve the following four years part-time, or until age 65 (Compulsory Retiring Age), whichever occurs earlier.
Members may transfer out of an active element of the Air Force Reserve at any time.
