Other Ranks (Non Technical)
You may be posted to any Air Force Base within Australia or possibly overseas, although overseas postings are limited. You will be asked to indicate your preferred locality for posting. However, posting to a particular locality cannot be guaranteed as service needs will be given a high priority as will the availability of vacancies in your preferred locality.
Areas of Employment
Clerks are trained primarily to provide administrative support in an operational environment, which could range from a bare base in a remote locality to a field environment where shelter and facilities are limited.
Clerks will be employed in administrative roles where the focus is on a particular support function including Registry, Personnel, Finance (pay and non public monies), Health Services and Training. Clerks are also employed in staff or recruiting positions but will be required to maintain the specialist skills required for operational deployments.
Working Conditions
Clerks are employed in various working conditions, ranging from field operations in remote localities to air conditioned office environments. Clerks should expect to work in field conditions when deployed to an Area of Operations. Infrastructure in the workplace will vary from very limited resources in field conditions to fully automated, modern office facilities. Clerks in a field environment may be subject to climatic excesses where they may be expected to work long hours to provide the level of support required.
