An Air Force Dental Officer is responsible for providing dental services in order to maintain ADF personnel capability during times of peace, tension and conflict.

Dental Officers are responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating personnel and providing advice in respect to the maintenance of oral health. These duties extend to the provision of services to deploy, operate and maintain multiple ADF health capabilities both within Australia and overseas.

Air Force dental surgeries are equipped to high standards, and your assistants will give you the necessary support to provide the highest level of oral health care for your patients. Specialist referral is available when necessary.

When deployed, Dentists are responsible for the management and maintenance of the field dental unit, but responsibilities may extend to executive Health Officer roles, applying first aid, emergency resuscitation, and assisting with patient triage. In certain circumstances, Dentists may be required to provide advanced airway and pain management.

Dentists are also responsible for managing dental units, applying quality management systems and managing contracts.
