The main job of an Air Force Education Officer is to provide expert advice on the application of the Air Force Training System. Education Officers are integral to the maintenance of the Air Force's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) system. An Education Officer will work with subject matter experts to analyse, design, and evaluate training to meet workplace needs and quality control the development and conduct of training.
An Air Force Education Officer may be employed in a number of capacities.
First, as a member of a Training System Team at an operational Air Force base, you are responsible for consulting on and coordinating training, with military/civilian training staff, outside contractors and students. You could be required to do some or all of the following tasks:
- Identify training needs;
- Conduct training analysis;
- Design training courses;
- Facilitate development and conduct of training;
- Provide advice on course evaluation;
- Validate courses against workplace needs;
- Provide training solutions;
- Provide advice on appropriate training technology, including e-learning and/or other technology based training methods;
- Facilitate the development of systems for quality training and assessment; and
- Manage instructors and training developers.

- Predictive training concept development; and
- Training policy.
Graduate (Reserve)
As an Air Force Reserve Education Officer you may manage career commencement and progression training, workplace specific training, deliver instructional technique and workplace assessor training, develop and evaluate training, or oversee a range of military skill training activities. You are likely to be employed as a supervisor of a team of instructors. You would also be required to counsel trainees, and provide professional advice to instructors on selection and use of instructional strategies and training aids.
A Reserve Education Officer also has a range of training administrative tasks to oversee such as development of training budgets, squadron training schedules, and compilation of annual training bids.
