Education Requirements
Graduate, Graduate (Reserve)
To qualify for entry into the ENVH specialisation, an applicant must hold an undergraduate degree majoring in Environmental Health or a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health. The qualification must be recognised by Environmental Health Australia to practice as an Environmental Health Officer in Australia.
Graduate applicants with Environmental Science or related degrees should discuss entry options with their local recruiting centre. Your recruiting centre can obtain guidance on entry options via the Air Force Environmental Health specialisation advisor.
It is desirable that applicants hold a tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene or a related field. Additionally, applicants must satisfy general officer entry requirements.
Undergraduate
To be eligible for an Air Force Undergraduate sponsorship, applicants must have completed Year 12 with passes in English and three other Board of Secondary School Studies registered subjects, and commenced first semester of a full-time degree majoring in Environmental Health. The undergraduate degree must be recognised by Environmental Health Australia to practice as an Environmental Health Officer in Australia.
Undergraduate sponsorship is not available to applicants studying Environmental Science or Environmental Management. Applicants need to be undertaking an approved undergraduate degree majoring in Environmental Health. Information on recognised courses can be located on the Environmental Health Australia web site.
Specialist Reserve
To qualify for entry into the ENVH specialisation, an applicant must hold an undergraduate degree majoring in Environmental Health or a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health. Candidates seeking entry to the RAAF Specialist Reserve are to possess a minimum of three years relevant experience in their profession. This experience will be assessed by the Air Force Environmental Health specialisation advisor during the recruitment process. Candidates that do not meet the experience criteria may be considered for entry into the RAAF Active Reserve.
