It is essential that the applicant has completed Year 12 with passes in English, NSW 2 Unit Calculus-based Mathematics (or other state equivalents) and two other board approved subjects. It is essential that Trigonometry and Geometry are elements of the Year 11/12 Mathematics studied. It is desirable that Probabililty, Statistics or Calculus are included in these studies;

If you do not satisfy the education requirements for this trade or do not possess evidence of your educational attainment there is an alternative pathway available to you.
You may be eligible to sit an Alternative Education Equivalency (AEE) Assessment to ascertain your ability at the required educational level for this trade.
