Qualified Entry is available to applicants who have the necessary trade qualifications prior to entry. This is referred to as Direct Entry. Direct Entry applies to personnel who are fully qualified in the trade and enter the trade without formal Air Force training.

However, in some cases a second means of entry, Provisional Entry is also available. Provisional entrants are personnel who are qualified in a trade similar to the trade they are entering and who can become fully qualified in the Air Force trade by undergoing on-the-job training for a period not exceeding six months. No formal training is provided. Where Provisional Entry is available, this will be indicated in the 'Educational Requirement' and 'Employment Training' sections of the individual job pages.
