Graduate, Undergraduate
Nursing Officer Initial Course
Duration: 3 Weeks.
Location: Health Operational Conversion Unit (HOCU), RAAF Base Amberley (near Brisbane).
During the first year of appointment to the Air Force, Nursing Officers are required to complete the Aviation Nursing Officer Course, Aeromedical Evacuation Course and the Operational Health Support Course. These courses specifically relate to aeromedical evacuation duties and operational deployments.
Aviation Nursing Officer Course
Duration: 2 Weeks.
Location: RAAF Institute of Aviation Medicine, RAAF Base Edinburgh (near Adelaide).
Operational Health Support Course
Duration: 1 Week.
Location: Health Operational Conversion Unit (HOCU), RAAF Base Amberley (near Brisbane).
Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) Course
Duration: 4 Weeks.
Location: Health Operational Conversion Unit (HOCU), RAAF Base Amberley (near Brisbane).
Graduate (Reserve)
Air Force AR (Health) officers are required to undertake the Operational Health Support course (1 week) prior to consideration for deployment, either in Australia or overseas.
Other training courses such as the Aeromedical Evacuation (4 weeks) and Aviation Nursing Officer (2 weeks) courses will be required.
Specialist Reserve
Air Force SR (Health) officers are required to undertake the Operational Health Support course (1 week) prior to consideration for deployment on exercises or operations.
Other training courses such as the Aeromedical Evacuation (4 weeks) and Military Critical care Aeromedical Transport (1 week) courses may be required depending upon your specialist role.
