Physiotherapists are an integral element of the Royal Australian Air Force Specialist Reserve (RAAFSR) which is designed to provide a broad range of health services to complement and supplement those maintained in the Permanent Air Force (PAF).
Physiotherapists are responsible for providing physiotherapy services for ADF personnel in a variety of environments which may include on-Base ADF facilities, in support of personnel on exercises or operational deployments.
During your service you can expect a variety of employment roles:
- Physiotherapy duties in a static hospital caring for pre and post operative cases;
- Physiotherapy of patients in a field environment, including inpatient and ICU patients;
- Rehabilitation of patients after extensive surgery or illness;
- Sports medicine physiotherapy, (ie sports injuries management and prevention), to units and Defence sports; and
- Depending on postings, some physiotherapists may deploy with their units to remote areas.
