Airfield Engineering Basic Core Training

Duration: 6 weeks

On graduation from Recruit Training at RAAF Base Wagga NSW, you will attend the first part of your training at the RAAF School of Fire and Security (RAAFSFS) RAAF Base Amberley near Brisbane in QLD, to complete the 6 week Airfield Engineering Basic Course. Here, you will undertake Basic Airfield Engineering Construction courses, and driver training such as Landrover 110, Unimog, Medium Rigid vehicles plus trailers, Skid Steer Loader, and Backhoe Loader. This course also covers site induction training (Green NSW and Blue QLD cards).

On graduation from the RAAF Security and Fire School, you will be posted to your Home Unit for a period of up to 6 months for on the job consolidation of basic skill sets before being nominated for the Basic Plant Operator Course.

Basic Plant Operator Course

Duration: 16 weeks

After on the job consolidation of up to 6 months, you may attend the Basic Plant Operator course which covers theory and skills relating to driving of Heavy Plant (Scrapers, Bulldozers etc). It is a 16 week intensive course at the School of Military Engineering, Holsworthy Barracks Sydney.
