Education Requirements
Qualified
Entry to the Plumber employment stream is limited to qualified Direct Entry applicants. Qualified candidates must hold:
- Certificate III in Plumbing; and
- must also have a current Plumber licence or registered Plumber licence;
- dated equivalents - Certificate in Plumbing and Gasfitting; Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Plumbing and Gasfitting; Certificate of Proficiency in Plumbing and Gasfitting.
A Gas Fitter's licence is highly desirable, however, if not held, service arrangements will be made to meet licensing requirements where required.
Applicants applying for qualified entry must provide original trade certificates, units of competency results and a current resume to their Careers Counsellor. These documents will then be forwarded to the Recruiting Liaison Officer (RLO-1) at Directorate of Personnel Capability Management -Air Force for review by the Air Force job sponsor to establish eligibility for qualified enlistment.
Other Ranks (Technical) (Reserve)
Qualified candidates must hold Vet certificate level 3 in Plumbing and Drainer or equivalent and a Sanitary Plumbers Licence endorsed by Candidates State Licensing Board. A Gas Fitter's licence is highly desirable, however, if not held, service arrangements will be made to meet licensing requirements.
Entry into the RAAF Active Reserve (RAAFAR) is by selection to fill available vacancies. The selection standards are the same as those joining the Permanent Air Force (PAF) but also require that the applicant lives within 3 hours surface travelling time of a RAAFAR Squadron.
