Psychologists are an integral element of the Royal Australian Air Force Specialist Reserve (RAAFSR) PERSPSYCH category which is designed to provide a broad range of services to complement and supplement those maintained in the Permanent Air Force (PAF).

Psychologists are responsible for providing psychology services to Defence personnel in a variety of settings:

1. Under the supervision of the Senior Base Psychologist you will provide organisational psychology services including:

  • Assessments of RAAF members as part of formal administrative procedures;
  • Advising training units on the progress of trainees;
  • Advising unit executives on psychological issues; and
  • Developing presentations and programs at the request of units.

2. Participate in the delivery of mental health programs such as post-operational screening, suicide prevention and critical incident responses.

3. Provide personal counselling to individual members.

4. Assist the Senior Base Psychologist with the development and promotion of psychology services on the Base.
