Reservists are paid for each day attended, which is six hours or more. You receive half a day's pay for between three and six hours.
During the Initial Officer Course you'll receive $85.19 per day, or $96.55 if you have a degree. On completion of this training, pay rates per day will begin at $130.56 (non-degree qualified) and $139.05 (degree-qualified). Your salary will increase based on your officer specialisation, rank and years of service. A daily Service Allowance of $11.72 is also payable to compensate for the unique demands of Reserve service.
Airmen and airwomen receive $73.20 per day during recruit training and $86.54 while undertaking or waiting to complete employment training. Once trained, pay rates per day begin at $106.86 and increase depending on your trade, rank level and years of service. One of the most significant benefits of working in the Air Force Reserve or Specialist Reserve is that your pay is tax-free. You'll also receive free accommodation and food whenever you're training or on military exercises. Your uniform and equipment are free and any travel during initial or employment training is paid for.
