Darren joined the Army as an avionics technician because he needed something extra in his life and had always dreamed of working with aircraft. He works on the ARH Tiger, a brand new, state of the art helicopter being currently introduced into the Army. The main part of his job is maintaining and installing various electrical components on the aircraft, although a big benefit of working in the army is never knowing what tomorrow will bring. Avionics Technicians ensure the instruments and electronic systems such as communications and navigational equipment on-board Army aircraft are maintained perfectly.

A job tuning and operating field radio sets and establishing and maintaining data-link and satellite communications in support of Army aircraft operations will be challenging but quite rewarding.
