As a soldier in Army Aviation you get to work with cutting edge tools and equipment and maintain aircraft like the ARH Tiger which lead the world in technology and innovation.
After you enlist as a soldier in the Army you'll undertake initial training at Army Recruit Training Centre in Kapooka, NSW. Over 80 days you'll learn essential skills like weapon handling, fieldcraft, navigation, drill and first aid.
The training and qualifications our Army Avionics and Aircraft Technicians receive are nationally recognised so if they want to take up a similar position outside of the Army, they will have to complete only the most basic of conversion training. For instance a qualified Army aircraft mechanic would just need to complete a types course, on an airline's specific type of aircraft to be able to work on rotary wing (helicopters) and fixed wing planes for them. Civilian employers also value the discipline and work ethic of people who have been employed by the Army. So no matter how long you plan to be in the Army, the training you receive is setting you up for life.
