You'll find that in the Army you get more time off than you would in most other jobs. You will have a Basic Annual Leave Entitlement of 4 weeks per year. You may also be entitled to 5 extra days of recreational leave to compensate for any additional time spent carrying out official duties, after hours or on weekends. After 10 years of service you become eligible for 3 months long service leave.
We know that it's difficult being separated from your loved ones. That's why we give you lots of opportunities to visit them while you're in the Service.
Paid Recreation Leave Travel allows you to return to your home town. Reunion Travel enables you to arrange visits with your immediate family, if you are separated from them while on duty.
If a family member is ill or there has been a death in the family, you can apply for Compassionate Travel. This kind of travel may also be granted in other exceptional circumstances.
Home calling You will have a basic Annual Leave Entitlement of 4 weeks per year.
