A job as an Army Reserve ADF Investigator will require you to work independently or in teams to conduct investigations into sensitive, serious and major incidents and crimes involving ADF personnel, both domestically and overseas.
Your employment is with the Australian Defence Force Investigative Service (ADFIS) only. ADFIS is a tri-Service organisation responsible for all sensitive, complex and major investigations involving the ADF. ADFIS is manned by 150 members of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, Royal Australian Air Force and civilian staff. It was established in 2007 and is based in Canberra with members employed regionally throughout Australia and on numerous deployments abroad. ADFIS is commanded by the Provost Marshal ADF who reports directly to the CDF (Chief of Defence Force). ADFIS conducts investigations of a criminal nature but also assists the CDF with the investigation of matters that contribute to Boards of Inquiry or Commissions of Inquiry. Incidents such as the death of a Service member and major accidents are examples of recent inquiries.
