Other Ranks (Non Technical)
While undertaking your basic military (Recruit) training, you will receive basic trainee pay of: $1,258 per fortnight ($32,799 per year).*
On successful completion of your basic training, your salary will increase to $1,438 per fortnight ($37,485 per year)* while undertaking your Infantry initial employment training at the School of Infantry, Singleton; your Advanced Infantry Training Program and your Commando Initial Employment Training.
While under training, you will also receive $349 per fortnight ($9,092 per year) Trainee Allowance.
As well, you will receive an allowance for each day that you are required to spend in the field during your basic, initial employment, Advanced Infantry Training Program and your Commando Initial Employment Training. Field allowance is either $31.48 or $53.65 per day (depending on the type of field training being undertaken).
On successful completion of your Commando Selection and Training Course, you will be recognised as a qualified Commando Grade One. At this point you will be paid at pay grade six at a rate of $2,190 per fortnight ($57,097 per year). You will continue to receive this level of pay through your Commando Re-inforcement Training Cycle.
On successful completion of the Commando Selection and Training Course, you will be entitled to Service Allowance at the rate of $465 per fortnight ($12,128 per year). This is to compensate you for the unique requirements that Service life may impose on an individual and his or her family. You will also receive Trainee Special Forces Disability Allowance at the rate of $843 per fortnight ($21,979 per year). This is to compensate for Commando training you will be undertaking during your Re-inforcement Cycle. As well, you will receive Uniform Allowance of $419 per year to assist in maintaining your uniform. Your pay and allowances gives you a salary of $3,514 per fortnight ($91,623 per year)* at this stage.
After successfully completing the Commando Re-inforcement Training Cycle and being qualified as a Commando, your salary will increase to pay grade seven at a rate of $2,342 per fortnight ($61,071 per year). You will be entitled to Service Allowance at the rate of $465 per fortnight ($12,128 per year) and receive Special Forces Disability Allowance at the rate of $1,124 per fortnight ($29,302 per year) and a Uniform Allowance of $419 per year. Your pay and allowances will give you a salary of $3,947 per fortnight or $102,920 per year.
