Pay & Allowances
Graduate
Salary (excluding allowances) on appointment is $78,178 per year ($2,999 per fortnight)*.
To assist you in maintaining your uniforms in good order and condition, you will receive a Uniform Allowance of $682 per year ($26 per fortnight)*.
In addition to your salary, you will also receive Service Allowance of $12,128 per year ($465 per fortnight)) except while undertaking Military (Initial) or Employment training. This allowance compensates a member for the unique requirements that service life may impose on an individual and his or her family.
Salary will continue to increase based on rank, Competency Level and the number of years of service completed in that Competency Level. Refer to the Salary Scales.

Graduate Dental Program
First Year $54,209 per year ($2,079 per fortnight).*
Second Year $56,138 per year ($2,153 per fortnight).*
Third Year $58,153 per year ($2,230 per fortnight).*
Fourth Year $60,199 per year ($2,309 per fortnight).*
On completion of dental studies, salary (excluding allowances) on appointment at Competency Level 1 is $78,178 per year ($2,999 per fortnight)*.
Uniform Allowance at a rate of of $682 per year ($26 per fortnight) is paid to assist members to maintain an approved scale of uniforms in good order and condition.
Service Allowance at the rate of $12,128 per year ($465 per fortnight) is paid to all members (except for certain trainee entries) below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent. The allowance compensates a member for the unique requirements that service life may impose on an individual and his or her family.
Salary will continue to increase based on Competency Level, rank and the number of years of service completed in that rank.

Undergraduate
With 3 years to graduation: $33,086 per year ($1,269 per fortnight).*
With 2 years to graduation: $38,176 per year ($1,464 per fortnight).*
In final year: $43,266 per year ($1,660 per fortnight).*
To assist you in maintaining your uniforms in good order and condition, you will receive a Uniform Allowance of $419 per year ($16 per fortnight). This increases to $682 per year ($26 per fortnight) after commissioning.
In addition to your salary, you will also receive Service Allowance of $12,128 per year ($465 per fortnight) except while undertaking Military (Initial), Academic or Employment training. This allowance compensates a member for the unique requirements that service life may impose on an individual and his or her family. It is not payable during Undergraduate sponsorship.
Qualified Dental Officers are appointed at Competency Level 1 with a salary of $78,178 per year ($2,999 per fortnight)*.
Salary after completion of undergraduate sponsorship will continue to increase based on rank, Competency Level and the number of years of service completed in that Competency Level. Refer to the Salary Scales for further details.

Graduate (Reserve)
Dental Officers in the Army Reserve on part-time service are paid at a daily rate of pay, which is tax-free. Daily rates of pay for Reserve Dental Officers commence at $214.19 Salary will continue to increase based on rank and the number of years of service completed in that rank.
In addition to your salary, a Reserve Allowance of $12.52 per day is payable to compensate for the unique demands of Reserve Service.
