If you do not satisfy the education requirements for this trade or do not possess evidence of your educational attainment there is an alternative pathway available to you.
You may sit an Alternative Education Equivalency (AEE) Assessment to ascertain your ability at the required educational level for this trade.

Other Ranks (Non Technical) (Reserve)
Due to the specialist skills required within this trade, part time applicants may be recruited from either ex-RAAF or ex-Regular Army Fire Fighters, State Fire Brigades or applicants who hold a minimum qualification of PUA20601 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations), as approved by the PSITAB (Public Safety Industry Training Advisory Body). Volunteer Bush Fire Fighters, who hold a minimum qualification of PUA20701 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations), may be recruited if they can provide evidence that they have completed prescribed elements of Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations).

Unqualified applicants must be prepared to undertake the 15 week full-time ADF Firefighter Basic Course at RAAF Base Amberley, QLD.
This course will provide you with the basic firemanship skills and knowledge to Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) PUA20601.
Ex ARA/RAAF members who have successfully completed the ADF Firefighter basic course, as a minimum, will have already achieved the entry requirements for this trade.
