Employment Training
Following completion of Military Training, Medical Officers complete the Logistic Officers Basic Course, which includes a Special-to-Corps Phase.

Location of the course: Army School of Logistic Operations, Army Logistic Training Centre Bonegilla, Victoria.
Employment as an officer in the RAAMC is diversified and interesting. As well as developing the management skills required to become an effective member of the health care team, RAAMC officers must be competent in tactics, operational and administrative staff work. The Corps seeks a special class of officer, one who can temper military zeal and excellence with compassion for their fellow soldier.
Regimental Medical Officers Introductory Course
Duration of the course: 2 Weeks
Location of the course: Health Services Wing, Army Logistic Training Centre Bonegilla, Victoria
This course is completed in the first year as a uniformed medical officer and is designed to assist with the Medical Officer's assimilation into service life and his/her role as a regimental medical officer (RMO). Topics include the organisation of the health services, the medical classification system and documentation, diseases of military importance, preventive medicine and introduce the duties of an RMO.
During your first posting you will also undergo training in trauma management, aeromedical evacuation and occupational medicine.
Participation in the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program is strongly encouraged. Applicants should aim for entry to the AGPT in their second postgraduate year and complete one Basic Term prior to first posting as an Army Medical Officer. Those who do not enter the AGPT during their residency are encouraged to complete a three month term in general practice during PGY2 under the Prevocational General Practice Placements Program.
