A Metalsmith serves in the Corps of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME). Metalsmiths operate manual metal arc welding machines (MMA), metal inert gas (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), oxygen-acetylene welding and cutting equipment. A Metalsmith is a specialist who performs fusing, joining and cutting metal. They fabricate, repair, modify and reclaim equipment and components. As well, Metalsmiths operate and maintain tools of their trade.
