The Sergeant PTI Supervisor is required to analyse, plan, implement and supervise advanced integrated conditioning programs and the provision of health services support.
At Warrant Officer Class 2 PTI Manager level, there is a requirement to manage the integrated conditioning systems and injury prevention elements within the command area. The Warrant Officer Class 2 PTI is also responsible to identify the training needs for the MSD and CFLC for their local military area, as well as provide integrated logistic and health support.
There is a Warrant Officer Class 1 PTI posted to the Australian Defence Force Physical Training School as a senior instructor. Also, currently there are Warrant Officer Class 1 PTIs posted into the position of Injury Prevention Advisors to commanders.
Duties of a PTI are as follows:
- Plan and conduct physical training instructional sessions;
- Provide individual and group physical training programs;
- Provide initial management of sports injuries;
- Conduct physical training assessments;
- Conduct obstacle course training;
- Implement and monitor occupational health and safety in the physical training environment;
- Apply, supervise and manage injury prevention strategies;
- Promote health and fitness awareness;
- Officiate, coach and coordinate sporting competitions;
- Provide advice to the Commanding Officer on physical training, injury prevention, rehabilitation and Military Self Defence;
- Instruct and supervise Military Self Defence;
- Instruct on Combat Fitness Leaders Courses;
- Rehabilitation of soldiers; and
- Education on Health and fitness.
