Education & Experience
Graduate
Applicants for appointment as a Radiographer must qualify by possessing a tertiary qualification as follows:
- Associate Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Radiography;
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging Technology; or
- Any other tertiary qualification accepted by the Australian Institute of Radiography.
And
- by having a postgraduate Professional Development Year of Clinical Practice or equivalent as accepted by the Australian Institute of Radiography;
- by possessing a Statement of Accreditation in Diagnostic Radiography establishing eligibility for Ordinary Membership of the Australian Institute of Radiography; and
- by possessing a Radiation 'Use Licence' issued by a State or Territory of Australia under the relevant Radiation Safety Act.
Undergraduate
Undergraduate sponsorship applicants must have completed at least 1 year of a 3 or 4 year Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging Technology.
You may apply for undergraduate sponsorship after successfully completing the first semester of your first year of university studies. However, entry will be conditional upon successfully completing your first year of tertiary studies.
Graduate (Reserve)
Applicants for appointment to the RAAMC as a Radiographer must possess a tertiary qualification accepted by the Australian Institute of Radiography. This may include: an Associate Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Radiography or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging Technology.
Applicants must have completed a post-graduate clinical year of practice as required by the Australian Institute of Radiography; must be eligible for Ordinary Membership of the Australian Institute of Radiography; and must possess a Radiation 'Use Licence' issued by a State or Territory of Australia under the relevant Radiation Safety Act.
