Other Ranks (Technical), Army Reserve Traineeship & Apprenticeship Program

Completion of Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English, Mathematics, Science (with a Physics content desirable) and one other subject.

These entry qualifications are the minimum required to facilitate understanding of the engineering principles encountered during later phases of training.

Note: Consumer Maths, Maths in Society and similarly 'modified' maths are not suitable for entry to the Army Technical and Trade Scheme,

or

If you do not satisfy the education requirements for this trade or do not possess evidence of your educational attainment there is an alternative pathway available to you.

You may be eligible to sit an Alternative Education Equivalency (AEE) assessment to ascertain your ability at the required educational level for this trade.

Qualified

Completion of Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics. Completion, in the relevant trade, of an approved apprenticeship or an approved traineeship at a recognised training institution and any period of full-time employment stipulated for that trade.

Applicants who hold a partial or complete Certificate III in any electrical discipline are given advanced standing as part of the Recognition of Prior Learning process towards the Army Technician Electrical course. This will reduce the amount of time you will spend in training.

Civilian qualified Electricians will attend the Army School of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering for assessment of their experience and training. If there are any deficiencies, these will be rectified by additional training before being posted to a unit.

Other Ranks (Technical) (Reserve)

The minimum entry requirement for ECN 418 Electricial Technician in the ARes role is a Certificate III in an electrical discipline.

In addition, applicants must have completed Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics. 

Completion in the relevant trade of an approved apprenticeship or an approved traineeship at a recognised training institution and any period of full-time employment stipulated for that trade is also required.
