  1. Apply Online

    Found a job you like? Click 'Apply Now' to start your recruitment process. Make sure you have your personal details handy; things like work experience, education and contact details.

  2. You Session

    Next, you will attend a Your Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) Session at a Defence Force Recruiting Centre. The YOU Session includes several tests and an interview to determine which jobs you are best suited to.

  3. Assessment Session

    After your YOU Session, there's an Assessment Session. This will include a Medical Assessment, a Psychological Interview and a Defence Interview.

  4. Officer Selection Board

    If you're applying for an officer role, you'll have one additional step. The Officer Selection Board will test your leadership skills, teamwork and other individual abilities. You'll participate in a series of group and individual activities, as well as an interview with a panel of military officers and a psychologist.

  5. Fitness Test

    Before you're enlisted, you must pass the Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA). The PFA includes push-ups and sit-ups and other fitness tests. Don't worry, you'll get plenty of time to prepare! There's even an online fitness program to help you get into shape.

  6. Enlistment or Appointment

    On your enlistment day, you will undergo a final medical check. Then you'll take part in your welcome ceremony which your family and friends are invited to attend.
