The Army Reserve is made up of everyday Aussies who are ready to step up to any challenge — if and when the country needs. Reservists help local communities around Australia and abroad, and play an important part in providing the additional soldiers and officers the Australian Army needs.

Always ready

The Army Reserve is there whenever communities need a hand. As a Reservist, you'll be part of the team that helps to rebuild the lives of entire communities. You could be providing assistance to tsunami and earthquake victims, or helping with peacekeeping efforts abroad in places like East Timor or the Solomon Islands.

Deployments are voluntary so if you choose to stay local, there are plenty of ways to make a difference closer to home, too. In fact, many Reservists opt to perform their Army duties and training exercises within Australia. Find an Army Reserve unit close to your community.

Flexible ways to serve

The Army Reserve is designed to fit your lifestyle. As a civilian, you'll continue your career or education while you train as a Reservist close to home. You'll work a minimum of twenty days a year as a Reservist, plus you will have the opportunity to go on exercises, deployments and training to further hone your skills.

There are plenty of jobs available — from admin positions to technical and even combat roles. So the type of role you choose is really up to you.
