The ADFA Education Award is presented annually to Year 12 students in recognition of outstanding achievement shown during the ADFA entry recruiting process.
The award gets you a laptop computer and personalised certificate, along with a plaque in recognition of your school. It is presented on behalf of the Navy, Army or Air Force to the 120 most suitable applicants who have applied for entry to ADFA.
To be eligible to apply for the award, you must currently be studying Year 11 subjects that meet both the educational qualifications for admission to UNSW and single Service requirements. (For details on these please refer to the entry requirements section of this site). You need to submit an application prior to 31 December in the year you complete Year 11.
You may apply for awards to all three Services, but if successful you will only receive one award from the Service you do best in. You'll only receive the award if you're enrolled to study in Year 12 at the time of the award presentation and meet age limit requirements for ADFA entry.
The award is judged from results of the ADFA entry aptitude test, Medical and a series of interviews. For details of what these are please see the entry requirements section of this site.
Receipt of the ADFA Education Award does not guarantee entry to ADFA. You will still be in national competition against other candidates for entry and be required to undertake a single Service Officer Selection Board (OSB). For details of this please refer to the entry requirements section of the site.

The ADFA Education Award is unbonded, which means there is no obligation to accept an offer to attend ADFA, nor is the Defence Force obliged to offer appointment to an award winner.
A representative of the ADF will present awards to recipients at a school assembly in the second school term.
