Other Ranks (Technical)
For the General Entry Aviation Technician Aircraft Sailor Category, the minimum educational standard to be eligible to apply for entry is the completion of study at Year 10 level, with passes in English, Mathematics and Science.
Note: Consumer Maths, Maths in Society and similarly 'modified' maths are not suitable for this job,
or
If you do not satisfy the education requirements for this trade or do not possess evidence of your educational attainment there is an alternative pathway available to you.
You may sit an Alternative Education Equivalency (AEE) Assessment to ascertain your ability at the required educational level for this trade.

Other Ranks (Technical) (Reserve)
Must have successfully completed a minimum of Year 10, in English and Mathematics.
A Certificate in Adult General Education (CAGE) is an acceptable education substitute for the Year 10 Certificate for Mathematics and English.
Qualification Requirement
Applicants are to be qualified Mechanical Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME). An assessment of individual trade qualifications and experience to determine acceptability for the nominated category will be made by the Category Sponsor in consultation with the Aviation Training Authority prior to enlistment.
