Dental Assistant Course (Unqualified Entry)Following graduation from Military Training, trainees undertake a 12 week ADF Dental Assistant Course at the Australian Defence Force Dental School at HMAS CERBERUS. This course is accreditated by the Dental Assistant Education Council of Australia at Certificate III level.
Qualified
Qualified Entry Sailor's Course - 4 weeksFollowing graduation from Military Training, trainees undertake a four week RAN Dental Qualified Entry Sailors course at HMAS CERBERUS, ADF Dental School. The course concentrates on service administration and infection control procedures. On completion of the course members will be posted to their new establishments with the rank of AB with one or two years seniority, depending on experience.
Other Ranks (Non Technical) (Reserve)
Qualified Entry Dental Assistant Course: 4-6 weeksFollowing graduation from Military Training, trainees are required to complete the ADF Qualified Entry Dental Assistant acquaint record / task book under direct supervision in one of the RAN's four major dental facilities (HMAS CERBERUS, KUTTABUL, STIRLING or ALBATROSS).This should take between four and six weeks of full-time work but can be undertaken in two week blocks. The training concentrates on service administration and infection control procedures and is predominantly provided on-the-job within the Dental Departments. On completion of the acquaint record, sailors are promoted to the rank of AB with one or two years seniority, depending on experience.
