For the General Entry, Electronic Technician Sailor Category, you must have completed Year 10 with passes in English, Mathematics and Science (preferably with a Physics content).

Note: Consumer Maths, Maths in Society and similarly 'modified' maths are not suitable for this job. QLD Yr 10 Trade and Business Maths is acceptable,

or

If you do not satisfy the education requirements for this trade or do not possess evidence of your educational attainment there is an alternative pathway available to you.

You may sit an Alternative Education Equivalency (AEE) Assessment to ascertain your ability at the required educational level for this trade.

You must hold a minimum of Certificate level III in Engineering – Electrical / Electronic Trade or one of the other trades listed in the Employment Training section of this entry.

If you have previously completed State recognised qualifications and/or hold National Competencies from an endorsed training provider you should apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) as early as possible. Application should occur during, or just after, the recruiting process but no later than the commencement of Initial Technical Training (ITT) following Recruit Training.
