On completion of the Qualified Entry Officers Course, Health Services Officers complete a one day new entry Health Services Officers presentation. During your first posting you will also undergo training in trauma management, aeromedical evacuation, underwater medicine and occupational medicine. Participation in the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program is strongly encouraged. Applicants should aim for entry to the AGPT in their second postgraduate year and complete one Basic Term prior to first posting as a Navy Medical Officer. Those who do not enter the AGPT during their residency are encouraged to complete a three month term in general practice under the Prevocational General Practice Placements Program.
