Additional Requirements
Qualified
All Musician applicants are required to audition to the
satisfaction of the Navy's Director of Music. Applicants must
demonstrate high musical ability on any of the instrumental
categories shown above, have a reasonable knowledge of the theory
of music and must be able to read musical notation. The minimum
standards acceptable for competitive audition are:
- QES (non-degree) - a standard commensurate with, but not exclusively aligned to AMusA; and
- QES (degree) - a standard commensurate with their degree.
Other Ranks (Non Technical) (Reserve)
Audition Requirements:
All applicants are required to audition to the satisfaction of the Navy’s Director of Music. Applicants must demonstrate high musical ability on any of the instrumental categories shown above, have a reasonable knowledge of the theory of music and must be able to read music notation to a high degree. Grade 7 AMEB or a commensurate standard, remains the minimum acceptable standard of audition for applicants to the Reserve component of the Royal Australian Navy Band.
