Education Requirements
Qualified
The minimum educational standard to be eligible to apply for entry is successful completion of Year 10 level, which must include study of English and Mathematics.
In addition, the following applies for the different avenues of Musician entry:
Qualified Entry Sailor - non degree (QES - non degree) - A standard commensurate with, but not exclusively aligned to AMusA;
Qualified Entry Sailor - degree (QES - degree) - Hold a degree from a recognised institution and who at an audition display a standard of performance commensurate with such a degree. Suitable degrees would include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor of Music; and
- Bachelor of Music Education.

Note: All applicants must undergo an audition.
Other Ranks (Non Technical) (Reserve)
All applicants must have completed a minimum of year 10 level
schooling with passes in Mathematics and English. In addition, the
minimum musical audition standard for Musician Entry Qualified
Entry Sailor (QES) is a standard commensurate with, but not
exclusively aligned to AMusA.
