Job Description
Officer (Reserve)
The Reserve OPLOG Officer is a logistics specialist working in military operational or support environments. OPLOG Officers support HMA Ships and deployed forces, either from a parent establishment within Australia or forward deployed support location overseas. Their core roles include:
- Providing logistic support for deployable assets in Australia and global Areas of Operations;
- Planning operational logistics at tactical, strategic and operational levels;
- The coordination of operational logistic support for non-self accounting operational units; and
- Ensuring effective lines of communication between ADO and operational units.
OPLOG officers provide assistance to Ships by facilitating port visit arrangements and liaising with various groups including Ship staff, civilian support organisations, contractors and civil authorities. OPLOG officers coordinate international components of operations by managing port visit arrangements and enhancing logistic Ship support in foreign ports.
OPLOG officers assist in the facilitation of personnel movements in and out of theatre including messing arrangements and manpower tracking. They manage medical evacuation and coordinate transport, equipment movement and storage (including freight requirements) and mail services (both general and safe hand).
Note: This is a Reserve only qualification and transfer to the Permanent Navy is not available.
Currently, selection for OPLOG Officer is extremely competitive and individual feedback to candidates relating to their current or future competitiveness is not able to be provided.
