You can enlist into the Navy now as a sailor and have the flexibility to later make a decision on your future career role. This entry method is via Non Category Specific Entry (NCSE) and means that you will be assessed for General Enlistment into the Navy as a Recruit but not for a specific job preference.

This method of entry is designed for those of you who want to join the Navy now but need more time to decide which career path you wish to follow in your Navy employment.

During your Recruit Training at HMAS Cerberus, Westernport, Victoria you will be given time to understand the different Navy jobs, what they do and which one might interest you.

By the time you have completed your Recruit Training, you will have made an informed decision on what career path you wish to follow in the Navy and be ready to undertake the employment training necessary to qualify you in this career. Your personal aptitude and the Navy’s needs may preclude you from some employment categories and Navy has the final say but every effort will be made to provide you with your preferred career path.
