Graduate
Applicants for the Training Systems Primary Qualification (TS PQ) are required to hold a minimum of a three (3) year degree or post graduate (diploma) qualification in one of the following disciplines with at least 12 months practical training or teaching experience:
- Adult Vocational Training or Education;
- Human Resource Development (see note); and
- Education.
- Adult Vocational Training/Education; and
- Human Resource Development.
Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) or Bachelor of Teaching (TESOL) are examples of qualifications that are not suitable for Training Systems Officer entry.
To be competitive for appointment, candidates should be able to demonstrate a focus on curriculum design, development, and training administration in an adult learning environment.
It is desirable that candidates also hold Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA04), however, this is not essential for Permanent Navy applicants as training will be provided.
Qualifications in Human Resource Development or other similarly titled qualifications are acceptable if appropriate subjects relating to training and development have been covered. Applicants should inquire as to the appropriateness of particular qualifications and subjects.
Note: All methods of entry for this role require your qualifications to be endorsed by the Directorate of Naval Category Management. If found satisfactory through this assessment, your Case Manager will be advised that you satisfy the minimum education standards and your application will be progressed. Your Case Manager will organise this process for you.
Graduate (Reserve)
Reserve TS officer applicants require the following educational prerequisites:
Tertiary Qualifications: Applicants are required to hold a minimum three (3) year Bachelor’s degree in, or with a major in; Adult Vocational Education and Training (Adult Education), or a three (3) year degree in another discipline with a post graduate qualification in Vocational Education and or training. These qualifications should have been consolidated by at least 12 months training and or teaching experience.
Applicants with school-based education qualifications, industrial (HRD) or commercially related degrees, including Associate degrees linked to TAFE, may be considered, depending on employment experience. Applicants with experience in adult education will be more competitive.
VET Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Training and Assessment (TAA04) or equivalent qualification.
