The next stage in the application process following the YOU Session is the Assessment Session. If the position you've applied for is in critical demand you could attend the Assessment Session shortly after the YOU Session. However, if there are few positions available, or the intake dates are later in the year, you may not attend the Assessment Session for several months.
To receive an Assessment Session booking you will need to have submitted copies of all your documents ensuring that, where required, the documents have been certified. This includes the Medical History Questionnaire which must be sent to DFR for review before you can receive an Assessment Session booking.
You will now be assigned a Case Manager who will assist in guiding you through all aspects of the application process, including the steps that need to be completed before you can be booked to an Assessment Session.
You should still aim to be proactive with your application and not rely on the Case Manager to chase you for outstanding documentation. This will only delay your application unnecessarily.
As a result of the interviewing and testing processes your job preferences are likely to change. If this does occur, your Case Manager may also change, so that you have the most qualified person to provide you with the best possible advice and care.
Depending on the role applied for, you may also be required to sit additional testing before attending an Assessment Session.
If at any stage DFR are having difficulty getting in contact with you, it is possible that you will miss out on an Assessment Session booking, or even have your application withdrawn. To avoid this make sure:
Your fitness program should be well underway by now, and as a minimum, you should be referring to the Defence Jobs 4 week Fitness Program as your guide.
By this stage you should also be comfortable passing the standards set in the Physical Fitness Assessment.
