LIFE'S AN ADVENTURE, SO IS YOUR APPRENTICESHIP
The Navy, Army and Air Force need highly trained technicians and tradesmen to ensure every piece of equipment – from ships, jets and tanks through to missile systems, telecommunications networks and electrical generation equipment – is maintained to the highest level of operational readiness. The opportunities and benefits on offer are exceptional.
Our trade schools are second to none. You'll work with top shelf facilities and get the best trade qualifications possible – qualifications that are nationally recognised and sought after in the civilian world. Not only that, you'll earn a great wage while you train – with subsidised meals and accommodation – plus have a guaranteed job when you've qualified.
Most people are surprised at just how well they get paid in the Defence Force.
During Basic Recruit training you'll receive $28,060 per year, which increases to $31,719 per year once you begin your apprenticeship. Once you've successfully qualified, you will earn a salary package of over $60,000 per year.
This will continue to increase based on your rank and the number of years of service you complete. You will also be given the opportunity to attend courses that contribute to your personal and professional development.
Naval personnel will also receive $10,347 p.a. seagoing allowances when they are posted to a ship.
For further details of the pay you will earn, the training you will undergo and the qualifications you will receive, check the individual job descriptions under the trade careers section on this website.
