The Australian Defence Force looks to overseas candidates to fill gaps in our Services, which can't currently be satisfied by standard recruitment. We recognise that these candidates can bring skills and attributes to the Navy, Army and Air Force that will strengthen their overall operation and success rate.
Currently there is no avenue of entry available for you to apply to join the Australian Defence Force. Further information in relation to applying for permanent residency can be found by accessing the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship website at www.citizenship.gov.au.
If you are not an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident and you do have recent military experience, please refer to the individual Navy, Army and Air Force information by clicking on the relevant link towards the top of this page.
We are looking for serving or ex-serving foreign military personnel, who can directly transfer their job and life skills to whichever Service they join, with limited training and preparation.
Candidates currently overseas, who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents and have an Australian address, can apply online. If you do not have a current Australian address you can supply the address of a family member until you return.
