Ways to become a leader
How you train to be an officer at RMC depends largely on your situation. Even with no prior experience or qualifications, you could become a Lieutenant in charge of your own platoon of soldiers. Imagine going from your current life to graduating as a General Service Officer in just 18 months. If you're a qualified professional, your training is even shorter. 1. Apply
To get into RMC, simply apply for the officer role you're interested in. Make sure you have your details handy; things like work experience, education and contact details.

2. You Session
Next, you'll attend a Your Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) Session at a Defence Force Recruiting Centre. This includes several tests and an interview to determine which jobs you are best suited to.

3. Assessment Session
This session includes a Medical Assessment, Psychological Interview and a Defence Interview. But don't worry, it's not a daunting process.

4. Selection Board
The Officer Selection Board will test your leadership skills, teamwork and other individual abilities. It involves several activities, as well as an interview with a panel of military officers and a psychologist.

5. Fitness Test
Before you're appointed as an Officer Cadet, you must pass the Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA). The PFA includes push-ups and sit-ups and a shuttle run (beep test). But it's OK, you'll get plenty of time to prepare.

6. Appointment
On your appointment day, you will undergo a final medical check. Then you'll take part in your welcome ceremony which your family and friends are invited to attend.
Officer Selection Board - Upcoming Dates
The Royal Military College (RMC) Officer Selection Boards (OSB) are a one day format held in Canberra at RMC, Duntroon. The OSB will test your leadership potential, through testing your leadership skills, teamwork and fitness. The OSB will also include a panel interview with military members and a psychologist.
