You'll be sent a list of what to pack well before your Kapooka start date. This will cover all the things you should bring and the personal items that are allowed. Due to limited storage space, you'll only be allowed to bring one suitcase with you. You should consider the following when packing for soldier training:

Paperwork: Documents you've been advised to bring with you.

Clothing: A small amount of neat, casual civilian attire (two to three sets) plus formal attire (a suit or dress that can be the same outfit worn on enlistment day). It is recommended to pack two sets of comfortable, neat exercise clothes along with something to sleep in. Sufficient underwear and socks for exercise and other activities will be needed, along with sufficient sanitary products.

Toiletries: Bring a generous supply of all the things you'd usually use, such as soap/body wash, shampoo and deodorant. In addition, females should bring hairspray, bobby pins, hairnets and sanitary products. Males should bring shaving gear but no electric razors. There's a general store at Kapooka where you can buy additional toiletries and hygiene products throughout training if you need them.

Mobile/Electronic Devices: You can bring your mobile phone and charger as you'll have opportunities to call home at specific times throughout the training program. The rest of the time your phone may be secured by Kapooka staff and cannot be used unless there are extraordinary circumstances such as a family emergency.

A lot of your time at Kapooka will be spent in the military uniforms you are provided. This will include various uniforms you'll need for training, including socks and physical training gear.
